AbstractCyclic ethers such as tetrahydrofuran or tetrahydropyran were easily cleaved at room temperature by sulfuric acid ‐ acetic anhydride providing the corresponding diacetoxyalkanes in good yield. The ring opening was applicable to saturated cyclic ethers, regardless of the presence of substituent groups.
