Abstract

A new dynamic simulation model is presented with an integrated simulation tool. The dynamic model uses a rigid multi-body model to analyze numerically not only the dynamic hysteresis but also the contact force occurring in automotive damper springs. An experimental estimation of hysteresis and in-situ measurement of the contact force is performed and compared with simulation results. Both the simulation results and the experimental data demonstrate that the proposed approach can effectively predict the non-linear hysteresis and the contact force in clutch damper springs.
