Abstract

A model based on the gauge group SU L(2) × SU R(3) × U(1) is proposed. The model can be regarded as an extension of the well-known left-right symmetric model SU L(2) × SU R(2) × U B- L (1). However, the group SU R(3) is more restrictive than SU R(2), and works as a horizontal gauge group, yielding three generations of fermions. At the tree level, the first generation of fermions is naturally massless.
