Abstract

Abstract Right atrial masses occur in different clinical conditions such as primary or secondary tumours of the heart, atrial thrombus formation and tricuspid valve vegetations. We describe a right atrial mass in a woman with a subclavian venous catheter which was diagnosed to be an organized calcified thrombus after surgical extraction. Thrombus is a common cause of an intracardiac mass, and indwelling central venous catheters especially if the tip is placed in the right atrium may cause abnormal mass formation consistent with a thrombus.
