Abstract

This letter proposes a new ridged horn antenna with adjustable metallic grid sidewalls and a cross-shaped back cavity. An improved design of the coaxial-line-to-ridged-waveguide transition is introduced to improve the pattern behavior and return-loss performance of the horn antenna across the entire frequency band. The measurement results prove that there are no distortions at higher frequencies. The frequency range of this horn antenna is 0.8-20 GHz, and this design exhibits improved performance in terms of gain, VSWR, and radiation pattern.
