Abstract

Secteur Ve´te´rinaire de Marseille, Service de Sante´ des Arme´es, Marseille, FranceINTRODUCTIONSpotted fever group (SFG) rickettsioses are causedby obligate intracellular Gram-negative bacteriabelonging to the SFG of the genus Rickettsia. Thesezoonoses are now recognized as importantemerging vector-borne infections of humansworldwide, and share characteristic clinical fea-tures, including fever, headache, rash and some-times eschar formation at the site of the bite. Theyare transmitted by arthropods, mainly ticks [1].SFG rickettsioses have been poorly studied insub-Saharan Africa. In this work, we analysed, forevidence of rickettsial infection, fleas and tickscollected from rodents and dogs near Bouake´ inIvory Coast.MATERIALS AND METHODS
