Abstract

ABSTRACTRichard Pennington's career spanned three continents. He was the Gladstone Librarian at the National Liberal Club in London (1934–39), came to Australia as the first James Forsyth Librarian at the University of Queensland (1939–46), and moved to McGill University in Montreal in 1946, becoming University Librarian in the following year. He retired in 1965. He will be remembered as the author of the autobiographical Peterley Harvest: The Private Diary of David Peterley (1960) and the definitive A Descriptive Catalogue of the Etched Works of Wenceslaus Hollar, 1607–1677 (1982).
