Abstract

Abstract Research on mycorrhizae and evaluation of truffle plants. The morphology and anatomical structure of mycorrhizae of some species of Tuber and Terfezia are described as well as the differentiating characteristics between the mycorrhizae of economically important truffles. New methods for recognizing truffle mycorrhizae based on biochemical, immunological and molecular means are briefly mentioned. Although research in this area is still fragmentary, it is developing rapidly. The current way for evaluating the degree of mycorrhization of single and whole lots of truffle plants is discussed with respect to verifying their suitability for use in truffle culture.
