Abstract
This paper examines the impact of climate change on livestock husbandry in tehsil Faisalabad, Pakistan by using Ricardian Approach. Study estimate the Ricardian model of net revenue from livestock (milking large ruminants), and further studied the marginal impact of climate change. The months for climatic variables (temperature and precipitation) incorporated in study, are Rabi and Kharif season in which green fodder is harvested for dairy animals. Results show that livestock production (milk production of large ruminants) in Tehsil Faisalabad is highly sensitive to climate change, and there is non-linear relationship between climate change and livestock productivity. Kharif precipitation and temperature has more adverse effect because in those months temperature and precipitation both are high. Household size and value of milking animal has positively significant relationship with net revenue from milk production. Study conclude that farmers should take some adaptation measures to deal with the impact of climate change through selection of cross breed (local and exotic) to resist heat and give good milk production. In hot season give daily bath to animal so body temperature remains stable. In Kharif season give more attention and care to livestock inventories.
