Abstract

During the last stage of red cell differentiation, the ribosomal content of red cells undergoes accelerated breakdown (1–3). The sedimentation velocity coefficients of chicken red cell ribosomes have been reported to change from 82S in immature red cells to 62S in fully differentiated cells (4). This phenomenon has been suggested to be due to alterations of ribosome structure occurring during the last step of red cell differentiation (4).KeywordsSucrose GradientPancreatic RNaseAdult ChickenReticulocyte MaturationSucrose Gradient SedimentationThese keywords were added by machine and not by the authors.
