Abstract
We have studied the role of rho meson exchange in the transition potential for the charge-exchange reactions p(n,p)n and p(p,n)${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Delta}}}^{++}$ at intermediate energies. The cross sections are calculated in the distorted-wave Born approximation. The calculated results are compared with the available experimental data. It is found that, for reproducing these data, while in the p(n,p)n reaction, in addition to one-pion exchange, we need the rho exchange in the transition potential; in the delta excitation the rho exchange is not needed.
