Abstract

Abstract In this paper, the peeling of an elastic adherend from a rigid substrate is analyzed Theologically. The theoretical relation between peel strength and peeling rate is introduced by the stress distribution over the interlayer at the steady state of peeling and by the assumed mechanical properties of the interlayer. Application of the theoretical relation to the experimental data gives us information about the mechanical properties of the interlayer. It may be concluded that in peeling the mechanical properties of the interlayer can be defined and they are related to the mechanical properties of both materials forming the interlayer.
