Abstract

Unlike force-dipole swimmers, amoeboid swimmers affect the effective suspension viscosity in a nontrivial manner. Transitions between shear-thickening and shear-thinning behaviors, depending on applied shear rates, are due to the phase-locking of the swimmer dynamics with the shear flow.
