Abstract

A rheological model to represent the time dependent behavior of a frozen cohesive soil layer, while under lateral stress and at constant temperature, is introduced. Windsor clay was used for the experimental investigations carried out to correlate the stress-time and strain-time behavior of the actual frozen cohesive soil layer with the behavior of the mathematical model in order to establish a stress-strain- time relationship for the soil-ice-water system under investigation. /ASCE/
