Abstract

The rheological, mechanical properties and thermal behaviors of polytrimethylene terephthalate were investigated. The results show that: The critical shear rate decreased with an increase in molecular weight, and also increased with a rise in temperature. Zero shear viscosity increased with an increase in molecular weight and decreased with a rise in temperature. The α-relaxation peak was clearly seen at about 70°C. The loss modulus of high molecular weight PTT decreased rapidly. The glass transition temperature of PTT was about 72°C. The thermal degradationof PTT occurred in the temperature range of 400°C–467°C, and the maximum heat loss temperature was 439°C.
