Abstract

Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Zakariya al-Razi (865–925AD), with the Latinized name of Rhazes, was a great Persian physician, mathematician, chemist, philosopher, and astronomer (Fig. 1). He was born in the city of Rayy (near present-day Tehran). Rhazes was educated in medicine in Baghdad (the capital city of today's Iraq) [1]. He is believed to be the first great scientist of the Golden Age of Islamic Medicine (9th–12th centuries AD) [1,2].
