Abstract

Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine current incidence trends and outcomes for children with rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS). Methods: The Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results registry (1973-2005) was examined for patients with RMS less than 20 years of age. Results: Overall, 1544 patients were identified with RMS for an incidence of 0.4414 per 100,000. Males outnumbered females 59% to 41% for an age-population adjusted incidence of 0.512 and 0.368 per 100,000, respectively. Overall, 79% (n=1215) of patients were white.
