Abstract

The rate of immunization to the Rh(D) antigen was investigated in Rh(D)-negative patients who had undergone open heart surgery. Twenty Rh(D)-negative patients received an average of 19·4 units of Rh(D)-positive blood at operation. Nineteen of these patients developed anti-Rh(D) antibody.
