Abstract

Goztepe Semiha Sakir Nursing Home Elderly Care and Rehabilitation Center, Maltepe Nursing Home Elderly Care and Rehabilitation Center, which operates under the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Family, Labor and Social Services, It was carried out on 322 employees working in Prof. Dr. Fahrettin Kerim-Nilufer Gokay Nursing Home Elderly Care and Rehabilitation Center. In this study, which aims to examine the attitudes of nursing home workers towards the elderly and the relationship of these attitudes with socio-demographic, work-related characteristics and views on social life in the Anatolian Side of Istanbul, the questionnaire form and the Turkish Form of the Kogan Attitude Scale towards the Elderly were used to collect the data. Number, percentage ratio, average, standard deviation, minimum-maximum values and One-Sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal-Wallis H tests were used in the analysis of the data. As a result of the study, it was found that nursing home employees have a positive attitude towards the elderly and the average attitude scores of employees towards the elderly and age, the connotation of the concept of old age (affection, depression, wisdom, mental decline and uselessness), satisfaction with working with the elderly in the nursing home, the problem (excessive expectations of the elderly), the title served, the unit served in the nursing home, the factor affecting the behavior of the employees towards the elderly who receive service from the institution (religious factors), the status of wanting to work in an organization serving the elderly in the future, the status of the elderly person at home, the elderly in the family It was determined that there is a significant difference between the variables of the frequency of meeting face to face with the individual, the frequency of talking to the elderly person / individuals in the family on the phone, and the status of the elderly and social relations satisfaction.
