Abstract
Qualitative and quantitative analyses of the stomach contents of 263 individuals of the blue and red shrimp, Aristeus antennatus (males and females) show that this species has a diverse diet. Foraminiferans, shellfish, mollusks, and worms constitute its preferential prey, while the secondary preys encountered are represented by echinoderms and fish scales. Larvae, fish eggs, tintinnids (Ciliophora), and radiolarians are found as incidental preys. Variations in diet according to sex, season, and size of the individuals were also studied.
