Abstract

We evaluate transmission performance of a coherent 112-Gbit/s radio-frequency (RF)-assisted dual-carrier DP-16-QAM solution over 824 km of field deployed G.652 fiber. Two scenarios, with and without inline dispersion compensation, are compared. Furthermore, the effectiveness of nonlinearity mitigation using digital signal processing in the two scenarios is investigated. It is shown that good performance after 824 km can be obtained and that relatively simple nonlinearity mitigation can be very effective using the RF-assisted solution.
