Abstract
In this article I examine a partial typescript in Spanish of the collective translation of Witold Gombrowicz's novel Ferdydurke, originally published in Polish in 1939. The translation, with Virgilio Pinera chairing a large team of translators, is an important myth of Buenos Aires literary society and of Gombrowicz studies. The typescript shows that the translation hewed much closer to the Polish original than has been stated, and that the final manuscript corrections are by Gombrowicz himself. I also cite letters by Gombrowicz from this period, showing that his command of Spanish was better than he pretended.
