REVOLUTION OF DIGNITY IN ZAPORIZHZHYA: CHRONICLE OF EVENTS (NOVEMBER 2013 – FEBRUARY 2014)

Abstract

The article describes the events of the Revolution of Dignity in Zaporizhzhya (November 2013 - February 2014). The authors established the chronological sequence of the Revolution of Dignity. These studies are based on interviews with participants in the Revolution of Dignity in Zaporizhzhya. In November 2013 - February 2014, Ukraine was shaken by the Revolution of Dignity. The population of Ukraine is beginning to defend its rights and freedoms, to fight for democratization, economic and political integrity of the state. The Revolution of Dignity promoted the patriotism of Ukrainians. It is important to study the issue of the Revolution of Dignity in Zaporizhzhya. The participation of Zaporizhzhya in the local Maidan was active. Rallies in support of Euromaidan were held in Zaporizhzhya from November 2014 to February 2014. They were numerous and large-scale. About one to two thousand people came out every day. Since December 2013, protests have been held against the dispersal of Kyiv’s Maidan. The peak of the confrontation came in January 2014, when the Maidan was brutally dispersed. Since the beginning of February 2014, protesters have been gathering at a new place. Many participants of the Zaporizhzhya Maidan were participants of the Kyiv one. An anti-Maidan rally was held in Zaporizhzhya along with the Maidan. His performances were less numerous and took place mainly near the monument to Lenin. It is noted that after the escape of Viktor Yanukovych began a new page in the history of Zaporizhzhya.
