ABSTRACT This short work presents some translator’s personal comments, strategies and advice regarding translating Nikolai Gogol’s masterpiece ‘Dead Souls’ into Portuguese! Gogol uses complex stylistic devices which, on many occasions make this work almost impossible to translate!
