Abstract
It has long been recognized that mechanical revision stapedectomy does not yield results comparable with primary stapes procedures. Revision stapedectomy using an argon laser with a hand-held fiberoptic endo-otoprobe is a safe and effective alternative to mechanical revision stapedectomy. We present our techniques for revision of both total stapedectomy and small fenestra stapedotomy. Using these techniques, our results for revision stapedectomy are better than those obtained using mechanical techniques.
