Abstract
Penstemon series Speciosi consists of six geographically replacing species centered around (although not common within) the Great Basin. Descriptions, specimen-citations, maps and a key document the taxonomy involved and may be used to distinguish the species. Of the six species, only Penstemon speciosus is highly variable, it consisting of a polymorphic assemblage of races. Character-combinations in this species are mapped and discussed. No new taxa, nor changes in rank are proposed. KEY TO SPECIES WITHIN SERIES SPECIOSI A.
