Abstract

A critical review of the Freudian methodology: The “track switcht”, a forgotten concept This paper proposes a critical review of some aspects of Freudian methodology, especially those con cerning how the analyst exchanges words with the patient. It also intends to retrieve the fundamental Freudian concept of “track switch”. A critical epistemological review to some Freudian texts is used to explore the concept of “track switch”, carrying out a rigorous analysis of fragments of the Dora case, as it is a widely read and commented piece of clinical material. However, not many studies centre on an analysis of these characteristics. Throughout this study, some essential concepts for the psychoanalytic approach of hysteria, including brief contributions from J. Lacan that allow for a more thorough under standing of the methodological aspects of psychoanalysis are revealed..
