Abstract

Abstract The structure of the Kierkegaard hydroxymonophosphate has been revised. The chain-like structure of this compound is confirmed. The valence-strength based on valence length calculations, allows a new distribution of hydrogen atoms to be proposed. The structure consists of P(O3OH) tetrahedra and MoO5(H2O) octahedra, leading to the formulation MoO2 · H2O · P(O3OH) instead of Mo(OH)3PO4. The cohesion of the structure is effectuated by strong hydrogen bonds between the different chains.
