Abstract
This book is a report on the work of the millionvolt apparatus installed at St. Bartholomew's Hospital in 1936 as a result of the generosity of Mrs. Meyer Sassoon and the vision of the Cancer Committee of the Hospital. The choice of apparatus was made following discussions with Metropolita-Vickers after Finzi, Donaldson, Canti, Hopwood, Paterson, and Levitt had inspected the first continuously-evacuated apparatus for 200 kV at the Sheffield Radium Centre. The report emphasises the wisdom of the decisions made to obtain a million-volt constant potential apparatus capable of easy and safe use in the treatment of cancer, with a short focal-skin distance.
