Abstract

Clay, Fiber, Metal by Women Artists, co-sponsored by the Bronx Museum and the Women's Caucus for Art, drew attention to a richly talented group of contemporary women artists. The 120 pieces by 116 artists not only gave the public an opportunity to view works of extraordinary range and quality, but also to consider certain philosophical questions. Is art made by women inherently distinct from that produced by men, and can a clear distinction be drawn between craft materials and techniques and the materials and techniques of the so-called fine arts?
