Abstract

The phase diagrams and anisotropies of the upper-critical field of the uranium-based heavy-fermion superconductors UPt 3, URu 2Si 2, UBe 13 and UPd 2Al 3 are reviewed. Special attention is given to the identification of the multi-component order-parameter from critical field measurements in the case of UPt 3 and URu 2Si 2. The role of the anti-ferromagnetic order in determining the symmetry of the gap function and the H c2 anisotropy is discussed with reference to URu 2Si 2. The experimental evidence for a Fulde-Ferrel-Larkin-Ovchinikov modulated superconducting phase is also examined.
