Abstract

With the rapid development of industrialization and urbanization, soil contaminated by organic compounds has become a terrible environmental issue. The remediation of organic-contaminated soil has attracted worldwide attention. As one of the emerging soil treatment technologies, discharge plasma technology has a significant application effect in soil remediation, which can ensure the effective degradation of organic pollutants and avoid secondary pollution caused by waste water and waste residue. Starting with the analysis of the current situation of soil pollution control, this review further expounded the application of discharge plasma technology in soil remediation. The discharge structure of plasma and the influencing factors of remediation efficiency were summarized. The presence of catalysts on remediation efficiency was highlighted. The indexes of degradation efficiency and degradation mechanism were clarified emphatically. Concluding perspectives on the challenges and opportunities to discharge plasma technology toward soil remediation were finally intensively emphasized. Overall, this review provided the latest comprehensive understanding of soil remediation driven by discharge plasma from a scientific and practical point of view.
