Abstract

Polymer nanocomposites have been studied for ballistic and aerospace applications in the last four decades. They fulfil the requirement of low density/weight with high strength in ballistic & aerospace applications. In this review, physical attributes and mechanical behaviour of polymer nanocomposites, different types of nanofillers used for such applications, various techniques to make polymer nanocomposites and various techniques for their characterization are described. How the use of different preparation methods with the use of different nanofillers affect the physical attributes and mechanical behaviour of nanocomposites is also mentioned.
