Review on Marine Antifouling Coatings

Abstract

In this review, the major anti-fouling strategies based on physical-, chemical- and biolog- ical-methods are presented, while their advantages and disadvantages are analyzed. Then fouling re- lease-, conductive antifouling- and silicate antifouling-coatings are described in detail. It is pro- posed that the fouling release coatings which combine the nanotechnology with the bionic technolo- gy will be one of the most important antifouling approaches.
