Abstract

The monograph is devoted to the study of Russian explanatory sentences as a semantic type, which contains an explicit modus and dictum (deliberative) propositions and to which a wide range of syntactic constructions (from simple sentences to text) belongs. The focus is on the discursive properties of these sentences, manifested in the ability to serve as markers of communicative situations, author’s behavior, etc. Both general discursive properties of this semantic type and their specific manifestations in scientific and media discourses are considered.
