Abstract

Fast consumption of non-renewable resources of energy has led to the need of harnessing energy from renewable resources of energy. Solar energy is one of the most efficient and easily available sources of renewable energy in India. The difficulty with solar energy is the changing position and nature of sun due to which the ambient temperature and irradiance level are changing throughout the day. This leads to fluctuations in the production of power levels. In order to gain maximum power during different periods of time Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) techniques are used. Different algorithms have been used to implement the MPPT techniques. In this paper, work done in solar MPPT techniques has been reviewed and the advantages and disadvantages of various techniques are listed. This paper will give a quick access to the work done earlier in the field of MPPT, thus, helping to suggest the further scope of improvement in MPPT techniques.
