Abstract

Oral psoriasis is a subset of psoriasis that has many clinical presentations. Among the most common are geographic tongue, fissured tongue, and plaque psoriasis of the lips. Treatment options vary depending on the severity of the oral involvement as well as the extent of cutaneous involvement. Systemic treatments include infliximab, cyclosporine, and methotrexate. In cases with limited skin findings, topical treatments such as tacrolimus ointment, mometasone furoate ointment, fluocinolone acetonide cream, and retinoic acid mouthwash can be used. Direct steroid injections into the oral lesions also have been shown to aid in regression.
