Abstract

Radiation pyrometry refers to the methods for measuring the temperature of bodies on the basis of their thermal radiation. The instruments used for the purpose are accordingly called radiation pyrometers. When temperature is measured by a pyrometer, the temperature field is not distorted, because there is no direct contact between a probe and the fluid or solid. Quite appropriately such methods may be called contactless or proximity methods.
