Abstract

Mutual coupling drastically reduces the system performance and radiation patterns in MIIMO (multiple input multiple output) antennas. This reduction in MIMO antenna system is a major challenging issue and many works are carried to minimize the mutual coupling between adjacent antenna components. This paper provides theoretical review on recently proposed works and hybrid techniques for reduction of mutual coupling in antenna array. The increase in mutual coupling loss downgrades the radiation efficiency of antenna system and which can be improved by advanced hybrid techniques, but there are tradeoffs between different performance parameter metrics. Therefore, this paper proposes the different advance techniques, which are used in reducing the mutual coupling and comparative analysis of the same is carried out. The scope for future research work is suggested corresponding to the other performance parameters and indoor wireless applications.
