Abstract
Rationale: The aim of this review was to investigate whether transitioning to SMOFlipid® (soybean/MCT/Olive/Fish) in those on long term home parenteral nutrition (HPN) on a glucose only regime and infrequent 1st generation lipid emulsion will impact liver function parameters among adult Intestinal Failure patients. The development of Intestinal Failure- associated liver disease (INFALD) is multifactorial and displays a broad spectrum ranging from mild cholestasis to cirrhosis and decompensated liver disease. Improved liver function will increase quality of life and life expectancy.
