Abstract

The paper offers a study of previous development and existing standing of heat transfer augmentation technologies used in various thermal energy systems consisting of solar thermal system, heat exchangers, single and two-phase flow energy systems, and jet impingement cooling systems. Furthermore, literature concerning the heat transfer practices in dimpled surfaces as well as arrangements of dimples are offered. The effect of using nano fluid particle Al2O3CuO, Fe2O3,Fe3O4, SiO2, TiO2, and ZrO2, studied by various authors is reviewed. Lastly the work on combination of dimple surface with nanofluid is reviewed having heat transfer augmentation with negligible increase in friction factor.
