Review of extraction of intraocular foreign bodies in posterior segment

Abstract

It is controversial that the surgical time of extraction of introcular foreign bodies in posterior segment.In general, according to the operative conditions and the specific condition of oneself, it’s necessary to extract the foreign bodies as soon as possible.Pars plana vitrectomy(PPV) combined with extraction of intraocular foreign bodies is the major surgical approach.Endoscope-assisted PPV is used to extract the foreign bodies in the cases with corneal edema.The larger foreign body may cause endophthalmitis and retinal detachment with poor prognosis.
