Abstract
Considering the digitization initiatives, communities are being developed and the demand for energy usage is rising and to meet the urbanization demand, hybrid renewable energy systems (RESs) are exploited. Mathematical modeling of a system for the sake of performing the impact and stability analysis is a complex process and demands powerful visualization tools and techniques. In the last few decades, many visualization tools have been developed to assist the process of building a stable RES system. Following this, innumerable organizations fund many virtual/visual tool development researches to simulate the RES system environment. This review article presents an exhaustive investigation of the scientific enhancements and tools which are useful for building and programming state-of-the-art immersive visualization (IV) tools, thereby, encouraging researchers to propose and fashion new IV packages focusing on energy developers and consumer perspectives. Moreover, this exertion presents the conversation regarding the utilization of the edutainment (combining education and entertainment perspective) IV simulation packages for producing developments, expansions, and optimizations in the deployment (planning) of the RES system and relevant technologies. A total of one application programming interface (API), four 3D (avatar) modeling platforms, three-game engines, and ten industry-level IV tools (series game) are reviewed together with a list of freshly published RES dedicated research work. A review summary of the cutting-edge techniques available for producing immersive development (ID) is highlighted to enhance the potential of RES growth by encouraging more and more multidisciplinary IV tool developments.
