Abstract

With the development of renewable energy, flexible DC power transmission has made great progress, and DC circuit breaker has become an international research hotspot. This paper summarizes the research status of DC circuit breakers, and introduces the DC circuit breaker according to the working mode and topology, including mechanical, solid-state and hybrid DC circuit breakers. The hybrid DC circuit breaker combines the advantages of mechanical switches and power electronic switches, and is fast and arc-free when breaking, which is the new trend of future DC circuit breaker development. For the key technologies of hybrid DC circuit breakers, the commutation method and power electronic switch are introduced. Finally, the advantages and disadvantages of DC circuit breakers are summarized and the possible future development directions of DC circuit breakers are proposed.
