Abstract

Students of Spanish cinema with limited Spanish have been missing an introductory volume that provides them with a comprehensive account of genres, practices, and filmmakers which are often ignored by the dominant text-centred auteurist approaches. Bernard Bentley's A Companion to Spanish Cinema follows the development of Spanish national cinema and provides a clear idea of the issues while overcoming some traditional common places which have attended Spanish film studies since the 1970s.
