Abstract

A review of the effect of using prenatal nutritional supplements on mental health outcomes in children has concluded that evidence suggests supplementation as part of a maternal health strategy to decrease children's risk of psychiatric illness. The review, published online March 21 in the American Journal of Psychiatry, examined trials involving folic acid, phosphatidylcholine, omega‐3 fatty acids, and vitamins A and D.
