Abstract
AbstractThe cover picture of the current issue depicts a selection of luminescence colours of zinc oxide and relates to the Review Article by Claus Klingshirn (University of Karlsruhe) [1]. Zinc oxide is a wide band gap semiconductor which shows intrinsic luminescence in the blue and near‐UV spectral range as well as extrinsic emission from the blue to the infrared. The author discusses in detail why ZnO is a promising material for optoelectronics, in particular for the blue and ultraviolet region of the spectrum. His fields of research include the (non)linear, temporally or spatially resolved spectroscopy of semiconductors and their growth by molecular beam epitaxy. (© 2007 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
