Abstract

Introduction: Pesticides are used in agriculture to control pests and protect crops, but can have unintended environmental and human health repercussions. This document presents an overview of the current condition of pesticide incidence in the food chain, as well as their impacts on human health and the environment. It also investigates the problems and recommendations for improving pesticide safety and decreasing pesticide use while assuring the ongoing production of safe and nutritious food. Objective:  The goal of this paper is to review the occurrence of pesticide in the food chain aimed at informing policy on pesticide utilization. Method: A concise and comprehensive review was carried out with the aid of online research journal websites such as science direct, research gate, sci-hub, PubMed and google scholar. A total of 18 reviewed and published articles were used to generate this research paper. Results: Pesticides can enter our food through a variety of routes, including residues on crops and produce, seepage into ground water, and environmental persistence. They can harm human health by causing cancer, neurological damage, and respiratory difficulties. Pesticides have a wide range of detrimental environmental effects, including soil and water contamination. Conclusion: In conclusion, the use of pesticides in agriculture has both benefits and risks. Pesticides can help to increase crop yields and provide food security, but their use can also have negative impacts on the environment, wildlife, and human health
