Abstract
Abstract A patient with reversed rotation of the midgut loop of the retro-arterial colon type is reported. She is unique in being the first case recorded in the literature with a right-sided colon and a left-sided liver without situs inversus of the abdominal viscera. An explanation of the findings is suggested, based on known embryological facts. Previous reports indicate that patients with reversed rotation all present with obstructive symptoms secondary to the altered anatomy. This patient is unusual in that her symptoms and pathology were unrelated to the anatomical abnormality.
