Abstract

Environmental sustainability is one of the established concepts for the industry to manage resources for present and future generation. This valued concept make beneficiary to its follower in terms of reputation and gaining profit. Attention in supply chain management has progressively amplified since the 1980s when firms saw the benefits of mutual relationships within and beyond their own organization. Reverse supply chain one of the wing of supply chain which deals with product return, waste reduce, recycle and reuse etc. These all related to environment issues which are getting more attention to business and mass people. This is why, researcher have chosen this dynamic area based on particular case industry to observe how reverse supply chain (RSC) can be used to protect and improve environmental hazards. The objectives of this paper are twofold. First, it offers a literature review on sustainability along with environment sustainability and supply chain in conjunction with reverse supply chain issue. Second, it develops a conceptual sustainable environment friendly model based on reverse supply chain theory. Later, model has been fitted in simulation model. In this paper, poultry industry of Bangladesh used as case. The model has been developed by taking in-depth interview from experienced poultry executives. The paper ultimately focused on sustainability (only dealt with environmental issue) along with reverse supply chain management in the hub of poultry industry of Bangladesh. Future research in this area is also highlighted in this study.
